| Oh dear, you have
pressed my nostalgia button and I have
dug out my phots of when I was a member
of the PGS Photographic Society,
including "The Merchant of
Venice" in 1964 or 1965. Some
photos I can date exactly, others are
more vague! Philip
Edge also gives details of the Merchant
of Venice, "Concerning the
photograph of the 1964 performance of The
Merchant of Venice.
I certainly know one member of the cast
in the picture. My brother, Peter Edge,
played Nerissa, the maid of Portia, both
of whom are right of centre in the
photograph. Peter is the one on the
right. Playing the female parts was the
fate of many boys over the years until
joint productions with the girls' school
began in, I think, 1969 with Peter
Ustinov's Romanov and
Juliet." |
