| THE
SCHOOL PRAYER Since the
publication of Newman's prayer in
our last issue, a complete
version of the form used at
School in the 1930's has been
discovered among material
contained in the archives in
Huyton Library. The first portion
is particular to the School and
the remainder by Cardinal John
Henry Newman.
Almighty
God,
We
remember the Founder of the
School, its Benefactors, its
Governors, its Teachers and its
Scholars, as well former as
present, and all Others who hold
office in the same.
Support
us, O Lord, all the day long of
this troublous life, until the
shades lengthen, and the evening
comes, and the busy world is
hushed, the fever of life is
over, and our work is done. Then
Lord, in Thy mercy, grant us safe
lodging, a holy rest and peace at
the last through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Amen
