| General Report School teams have again
worked hard throughout the season with some good
results. The volh ball team has won its first
three matches against Sedgley Park College at
home and away, and Burnley Ladies at home. In the
final of the North West area tournament the team
was beaten by a strong Kirkby team containing
several British International players.
Jillian Rothwell
became the first member of our table-tennis team
to win one of the St. Helens and District
Table-tennis League's tournaments when she won
the Ladies handicap event.
Members of gym
club have been working for the British Amateur
Gymnastics Association awards and seven girls
have now gained the grade 1 award.
Clubs held
during the year include volleyball, swimming,
athletics, table-tennis, gymnastics and
basketball.
The rail dispute necessitated a late change to
coach transport for the annual trip to Wembley
for the hockey international. However, it was an
enjoyable day despite the 2-1 defeat of the
English team by Ireland.
