| Last year's
informal Prize Giving and Reunion Evening was so
successful that this year's ceremony was run on
similar lines. Staff, parents and pupils, both
past and present, fully appreciated the
opportunity to meet over refreshments. In her spucch. Miss Smith pointed out that the modern schoolgirl has many demands made upon her time besides that made by schoolwork, not the least among them being by mass media, and that, therefore, the effort made by (he girls to achieve good results is even more commendable, She stressed that academic prowess is not all-important at Prescot Girls" Grammar School and that ihe girls are encouraged to participate in a full range of activities including Music. Drama, The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Project Work. Crafts and visiting the elderly. She reminded everyone that it is this side of school life that increases a girl's maturity. Miss Smith mentioned the two new ventures that the school has seen in 1972; ihe appropriately named "Venture Fund" and the new "School Association" which has grown from the former. Mrs. Heyes, Chairman of the Governors, then distributed the prizes and afterwards congratulated both the prizewinners and non-prizewinners on their achievements. Miss Smith then called on Ann Mallard, the Head Girl, to give a vole of thanks and Mrs. Heyes was presented with a bouquet. The evening was
a most enjoyable occasion and thanks must go to
