PRESCOT
GIRLS' GRAMMAR SCHOOL MAGAZINE
Summer 1974
Vol. 19The present
edition of the school magazine marks a
turning point in the school's history.
After nineteen years under Lancashire
Education Authority, the school will,
from April 1974, be controlled by the
Merseyside Metropolitan District of
Knowsley, as a result of local government
reorganisation. We should like to take
this opportunity of expressing the
school's gratitude to County Alderman
Mrs. Heyes for her wholehearted support
of all our school activities and
functions and for her untiring work as
chairman of the school governors.
At the
end of last summer term we bade farewell
to several members of staff : Miss
Catlow, Miss Dixon, Mrs. Duffy, Mrs,
Hughes, Miss Jones, Mrs. Owen and Miss
Wild. We offer them our good wishes for
the future. We were pleased to welcome
the new members of staff: Mrs. Case, Mrs.
Cundill, Mrs. Greenall, Mrs. Hesketh,
Mrs. Hough, Miss Jeffries, Miss Knowles,
Mr. Overton,
Mr.
Warren and Mile. Ronda. Shortly before
going to press we also had to say
farewell to Mrs. Hudson at the end of the
Spring term.
The
major events of the past year have
included productions of Twelfth Night'
and 'My Fair Lady', the Carol Concert,
Prize-giving and Reunion evening and
school parties to Switzerland and the
Lake District. Our dramatic and musical
performances were well-attended and we
congratulate all those whose efforts made
them such a success. We must also thank
staff and pupils who, by organising and
assisting with the Summer Fair and the
sponsored walk ,have raised handsome sums
for the Venture Fund,
The
magazines serves as a diary of the life
of the school and presents a selection of
the creative writing of the
pupilswe sincerely hope you enjoy
the contents.
