Keith
Macklin was one of
the most respected and
experienced broadcasters in the
country. He began his career at
the Warrington Guardian and then
The Barrow Evening Mail. He began
broadcasting as a rugby league
commentator in 1962, and became
Yorkshire television's soccer
commentator from 1969 to 1976
covering The World Cup and
Olympics. Whilst Keith was
perhaps best known as a rugby and
football broadcaster he had
presented BBC TV's Look North and
has anchored Border televisions
new's magazine programme for many
years. He was the first programme
controller of Red Rose Radio in
1982, he had maintained the
connection ever since and
currently does sports interview
and new's reading for Rock FM and
Magic 999. Keith lived in
Blackburn and whilst he covered
Blackburn Rovers and other
Lancashire football clubs he had
great knowledge of other sports.
He was a regular reporter on
ITV's "The Goal Rush"
programme on a Saturday. |

Playwright and
journalist. Writer on 'Auf Wiedersehn Pet', 'The
Manageress' and 'Coast to Coast'.
In the eighties was Sports editor
of the ill-fated Correspondent
Sunday newspaper.Now
concentrating on writing novels
although works as a guest
columnist in the broadshheets.

Barbara
Swift, under the
name Barbara Jacobs is best known
as an agony aunt with current
show on 106 Century FM ,four
nights a week and Radio 5 Late
Night Currie, Saturdays, every 6
weeks, but also as feature writer
(currently Woman's Realm and Good
Health) astrologer and
novelist (teens). Stopped writing
fiction in 1990. |

Ian Williams, is based
in New York, USA, but has an
international agenda as a writer
and journalist. He was twice
president and twice vice
president of the United Nations
Correspondents Association. He
originated the UNCA award for
best UN coverage in 1995 years
ago and is a judge in the New
York Overseas Press Club Awards. |

Ian McIntyre,
broadcaster, was Controller of
BBC Radio 4 from 1976-8 and BBC
Radio 3 from 1978-87. He is a
former associate editor of The
Times. He is the author of a
highly acclaimed biography of
Robert Burns (the
biography, Ian Hamilton,
The Times) as well as lives of
Joshua Reynolds, Garrick and the
BBCs first
Director-General, John Reith. He
still broadcasts and is a regular
contributor to The Times. |

Rogers, joined the BBC
straight from university - and
worked on CEEFAX, Newsbeat,
Today, BBC World Service and
Radio Five Live, where he was
launch editor of the Breakfast
programme. Recently he has been
helping with the redevelopment of
Broadcasting House in London,
from an editorial and output
perspective. |
