| I
had a blazer which had belonged
to one of our members (Alec
Weston) who died last year. The
Blazer really is a one off
because it has the school crest
sewn on the top pocket with the
letters OBA (Old Boys
Association) under the crest.
This was, of course, the insignia
used by the group of Old Boys
shortly after the St. Helens Road
site was established in 1924, and
it probably is one of a very few
still in existence.(if any) There
was another suprise with the
blazer when I found in the pocket
a copy of the service which was
used at the old school for the
unveiling and dedication of the
war memorial. This is also dated
1924. It really is a piece of
school history and it truly
belongs in the school archives
now held by the Knowsley Library
authorities.I will be speaking to
their archivist about this. |
