| I came across
this rare photo today, of selected fifth-formers
(1965-66) who got "volunteered" to
trial a programmed learning scheme for BICC. I
recall that this was the unexpected follow-up
test we were called in for. The photo was the
only tangible reward for our labours at the time,
since the training manual was for programmers of
the firm's new computer,
in a language called "CLEO" (Clear
Language for Expressing Orders, for those
interested in computer archaeology). It
would be several years I think, before any of
us had contact with even an
electronic calculator. It may bring
back to some, memories of the old (smaller)
Physics lab (Room 7?), which was at the time the
form room of 5R, four of whom are
pictured at the rear bench. |
