| For the
last few years, Barnardos have been
running a scheme in schools to raise
funds for the excellent work that they
do. Each participating school attends on
open day and receives a cheque for one
hundred and twenty pounds to set up a
business. A group of pupils from each
school runs the business, with each pupil
having a specific role such as
advertising, finance and marketing. |
Our
group this year worked well and organised
a lot of activities which included:
Shopping
trip to the Trafford Centre in Manchester
Catering for cross country race
Home made cakes
School disco
Daily tuck shop
Weekend trip to Tan Y Graig

 |
| Unfortunately
the trip to Tan Y Graig had to be
cancelled due to the foot and mouth
outbreak but it was still a good idea as
it showed that sometimes things don't
always go to plan! Overall the group made
a profit of eight hundred and fifty five
pounds, of which the pupils get to keep
twenty five percent to spend on something
that benefits the Business Studies
Department. I would
especially like to thank Katie Sweeney
and Rebecca Swetnam for their outstanding
efforts towards the business setup. They
both showed an acute awareness of what
was needed together with on uncanny knock
for making money, not to mention their
sheer hard hard work and commitment. Well
done ladies!
