Mike
Brady,FRS, FEng, FIEE, FInst.P is BP
Professor of Information Engineering at
the University of Oxford. Following a PhD
in Mathematics and a spell lecturing
Computer Science at Essex University,
appointed Senior Research Scientist of
the MIT Artificial Intelligence
Laboratory in 1980. In 1985, left MIT to
take up a newly created Professorship in
Information Engineering. Author of over
250 articles in computer vision,
robotics, medical image analysis, and
artificial intelligence, and the author
or editor of nine books. Has been awarded
honorary degrees by the universities of
Essex, Manchester, Southampton,
Liverpool, and by the French CNRS. Member
of the UK Governments Cabinet
Office Advisory Council on Science and
Technology (1990-5). Member of the UK
National Technology Foresight Steering
Group. Currently, Special Advisor to the
House of Commons Select Committee on
Science and Technology. |

Professor
Sid Watkins became
involved with F1 way back in 1978 Bernie
Ecclestone asked him to help out with
some medical problems. Professor Watkins
obliged and later that year he was
appointed Grand Prix
Surgeon. Twenty
years down the road, he boasts the title
of "Chairman of the Expert Advisory

Sir
George Sweeney
was knighted for his unstinting work in
the field of Further Education. He was
appointed to his present post in January
1990 following the merger of two colleges
to form Knowsley Community College.
Married with two daughters, he was
awarded a Knighthood in 2000 Queen's
Birthday Honours. More

Right Reverend John Waine KCVO was
Bishop of Chelmsford between 1986 and
1996 and potential candidate for the
office of Archbishop of Canterbury. He is
currently a member of the Press
Complaints Commission. He first became a
member of Essex University Council in
1994 and was appointed Chair of Council
and Pro-Chancellor in 1995. The Right
Reverend John Waine is currently Chair of
the University of Essex Foundation. More
